The final round of the 2014 Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club has just concluded and the winner this year is Colombian Camilo Villegas, who shot an impressive 63 today to finish the tournament at 17-under (-17) with a one shot victory over Bill Haas and Freddie Jacobson.
Camilo matched his first round score of 63 and has shot sub-70 rounds all week. This is his first win in four years, his last one being the 2010 Honda Classic, his most famous wins being the last two tournaments of the 2008 FedEx Cup Playoffs; the BMW Championship and the Tour Championship. This win also puts him safely high up on the FedEx Cup points ranking at 37th.
Here is how our picks finished the tournament:
1) Webb Simpson: T5 at 14-under (-14)
2) Bill Haas: T2 at 16-under (-16)
3) Martin Laird: T14 at 11-under (-11)
Good finishes all around and a very good job by Webb Simpson and Bill Haas. Stay tuned next week for the start of the FedEx Cup Playoffs and our coverage of The Barclays,

2014 Wyndham Championship Picks - Weekend Update
There are just two rounds left to be played in the 2014 Wyndham Championship and the leaders going into the weekend are Heath Slocum and Scott Langley, who both shot a pair of 65s in their first two round to stand at 10-under (-10), with a one shot lead over several other players. The cut has also been set 2-under (-2).
The top of the leaderboard is quite crammed, with about twenty players within three shots of the lead, some looking to prolong their PGA Tour season by getting into the FedEx Cup playoffs. Others, such as Scott Langley are looking for their first PGA tour win. Given the number of people so close to the lead and the goal of getting into the playoffs present in most players minds, these last few rounds are sure to bring competitiveness and some good golf.
Lastly, here is how our picks are doing to far:
1) Webb Simpson: T16 at 7-under (-7)
2) Bill Haas: T21 at 6-under (-6)
3) Martin Laird: T3 at 9-under (-9)
1) Mike Weir: CUT
Mike Weir shot an excellent first round 66, but followed it with a 74 which brought him just under the cut line. Martin Laird is doing very well also. Stay tuned to see the results of the tournament,

2014 Wyndham Championship Picks
The 2014 Wyndham Championship has just begun at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. Originally known as the Greater Greensboro Open, this tournament is one of the older ones on the PGA Tour. It was was first played in 1938 where Sam Snead won it.
Sedgefield Country Club is a Donald Ross designed course; the only one of his courses that hosts a regular PGA Tour event. It measures at 7,130 yards and a par 70. Last year's winner was Patrick Reed.
This tournament is the last regular PGA Tour event of the season and precedes the FedEx Cup Playoff events (The first, The Barclays, starts next week). It's been known as a tournament that many players play in order to get some last minute FedEx Cup points in before the playoffs.
Here are our picks on who we think is going to win this year,
1) Webb Simpson
2) Bill Haas
3) Martin Laird
Canadian favourite of ours Mike Weir is also in the field, so we'll be keeping an eye on him as well. Stay tuned for our weekend update of the 2014 Wyndam Championship.

Golfing Forums
In today's technology-forward world, it seems that there's a website for pretty much everyone and everything. Given this, it's only natural that golfers should have their place on the Internet too and this comes in the form of golfing forums.
To start, a forum is a member-oriented website where members can post freely to one another in a topic-response format. Golfing forums in particular are a great way for a person to connect to a larger community of golfers. They are places where you can talk about pretty much everything related to golf, things such as swing tips, professional golf news, equipment reviews, etc. although this varies from forum to forum.
There's dozens of golfing forums (if not more) on the Internet today and given this large number, most times its hard to find the perfect one to join. Here are two forums in particular that I've found to be helpful to me over the years:
1) TheSandTrap.com: one of the best and most informative golf websites on the Internet I think, yet it's forum still feels like a small community of golfers. This site has everything from product reviews to tour talk and much more. It also has a section on it's forum where members can post a video of their golf swing and have various members of the forum (some who are PGA professionals) critique it and offer feedback on how to improve it. The forum also organizes golf outings for members who are close to one another. Another interesting feature of the website is that users can submit their own reviews of courses, equipment, etc., reviews which I find more honest that most other ones. The best part of the website is if you have a question or need help with anything, just simply create a thread and people will respond with advice quickly. Overall the site is very focused on being community-oriented and focused on helping its members too.
2) TorontoGolfNuts.com: a smaller/Toronto-oriented version of The Sand Trap I find, with the same "golfing community" idea behind it (perhaps a stronger sense of community if you're from Toronto). As a Toronto golfer, I've found this forum very helpful in regards to golf courses. Since most of the members are from Toronto/GTA, they've played most of the courses I've played. It's nice to talk to other golfers who play where you play and discuss the courses. I find that it's a good place to find out about a new course, new specials at other courses, which courses are being run well, and what others liked/disliked about a course. It's also a great place to meet some new golf buddies and a great place to find that 4th person for that Sunday foursome. Overall if you golf in Toronto, then this is the site for you.
So if you're interested in joining a golfing forum, be sure to give these ones a thought,

NOTE: Remember that these are forums that I personally think are pretty good and beneficial to golfers, hence my reason for sharing them here. I am in no way being endorsed by these websites or being forced to post about them.

Rory McIlroy Wins The 2014 PGA Championship
In a spectacular fashion Rory McIlroy has won his second major of the year; the 2014 PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club, his third win in just three starts. He finished the tournament at 16-under (-16) and won with a one shot lead over Phil Mickelson. He fought off the likes of an on-fire Phil Mickelson and Rickie Fowler, among others to win the Wanamaker Trophy. This is his fourth major win of his career and his second PGA Championship win. His win makes him the 3rd youngest 4-time major winner, behind Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus. The last time a player won back-to-back majors was in 2008, where
Padraig Harrington won both the Open Championship and PGA Championship.
Rory started his final round a little off, with a couple of bogeys but remained in the mix all throughout his round. It wasn't until his back nine (which started with an eagle on the 10th) where his round began to improve. He entered the 18th hole with a two-shot lead and parred it while Mickelson birdied it.
The weather turned for the worst on McIlroy's final hole however, as rain and darkness began to fall, causing the final two groupings (Phil Mickelson/Rickie Fowler) to combine into a foursome in order for all of them to finish their rounds and avoid a Monday finish. McIlroy two-putted the last green in near darkness, but stated afterwards that there was no way that he was going to opt for a Monday finish.
Rickie Fowler also played spectacularly, finishing T3 along with Henrik Stenson. Fowler has been doing well in all majors this year, having gone at least T5 in all four of them this year. This is also the second time that he's been bested by McIlroy at a major this year. When asked by David Feherty post-round about how it felt not to win this one, Fowler stated that this one stung the most.
We picked Rory to win this week, despite how "against-the-odds" it sounds for a player to win three tournaments in three starts, two being majors, but this surely is a testament to how good of a player McIlroy is. He's already been dubbed a first-name golfer; one who is known by only his first name i.e. Tiger, Jack, Phil, etc. Jack Nicklaus, interestingly enough, described Rory as a player who would go on to win 15-20 majors in his career, and seeing how he's been playing it might not be surprising to some.
Here is how the rest of our picks finished the tournament:
1) Rory McIlroy: WINNER
2) Rickie Fowler: T3 at 14-under (-14)
3) Ian Poulter: T59 at even par (E)
1) Graeme McDowell: T47 at 1-under (-1)
Stay tuned for our coverage next week of the Wyndam Championship and congrats again to Rory McIlroy,
-Nick
